Stop the Merger of Our Lady of Dolours with St Mary of the Angels

Stop the Merger of Our Lady of Dolours with St Mary of the Angels
The Issue
As parents devoted to the prosperity of St Mary of the Angels (STMA) and Our Lady of Dolours Catholic Primary Schools, we are opposing their proposed amalgamation. We fear that this merger could result in a decline in STMA's reputation and educational standards, to which we are fiercely held. The proposal of this merger is already causing distress with some parents considering moving their children out of STMA, indicative of a potential negative impact on our community.
Furthermore, valued staff members at STMA are at risk of being subjected to a restructure and possible redundancy should this merger go ahead. There is apprehension of the strain on the school’s Special Educational Needs department that could also result from this merge.
The proposed amalgamation would push our school to operate at 130% capacity, leading to crowded classrooms and a likely decrease in the quality of learning. Moreover, only half of the pupils from Our Lady of Dolours practice as Catholics. This discrepancy might cause a significant change in the religious character of the STMA community.
We urge the relevant authorities to reconsider their decision, reflect on the potential adverse effects of the merger on our children's education, and explore alternative solutions. Join us as we stand for the protection of our school's reputation, the quality of education it offers, and the unique culture it has nurtured over the years. Please sign this petition to voice your opposition to this proposed school merger.
