Checking today and seeing thst people contributed actual money and we've gotten 1700 signatures is insane!! Thank you all so much! ❤️ Update as of May 17th, 2025: Well, well, well. We meet again nearly 3 months after this petition started. As of now, multiple NWS offices are no longer able to operate 24/7. Multiple tornado warnings were also not issued or were delayed during an extremely life-threatening situation. This caused AT LEAST 18 lives to be lost in Kentucky last night alone. Research funding for the NOAA is being proposed to be completely cut. What has occurred over the past 3 months can be described as nothing other than tragic and unnecessary. None of this needed to happen. If we had continued to fund the NWS & NOAA, we would be in a much better place right now. This is anything but "improved government efficiency." This is abhorrent. Please continue to share this a much as you can. Hello, my name is Anthony DiBlasi, and today (February 28th, 2025) I have created a petition to cover a serious issue. Since 2010, I have been obsessed with weather, and now that I am taking the next step towards achieving my dream, I have been crushed to witness the events taking place currently. The firing of over a thousand (so far) of NWS and NOAA employees is nothing but an atrocity. These firings are completely unwarranted and are causing an already understaffed organization to become even more strained. Furthermore, funds are being cut and station credit cards for things like tech upgrades/repairs, gas for travel to damage observations, and maintenance among other things have been cut to almost nothing. The NWS And NOAA are critical for our safety as a nation and prevent the loss of thousands of lives each year. Help me get this petition off the ground to show Donald Trump, Elon Musk, and DOGE that we care!
