We are asking the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to deny the issuance of a full liquor license (Type 21 – off-sale general) for Country Wine & Spirits, located at 4625 Garden Hill Loop, Suites B1 and B2, Carlsbad, CA 92008.

This location is within a newly developed, family-oriented residential community. The addition of a full liquor store selling distilled spirits to be carried off site is not compatible with the character and needs of this neighborhood.

There is an elementary school within close walking distance of the proposed site. The presence of a high-volume liquor retailer in such proximity raises serious concerns about exposure of minors to alcohol-related activity and potential impacts to the surrounding area.

Additionally, there are already multiple nearby retailers where alcohol can be purchased. Approving another full liquor license would contribute to an unnecessary concentration of alcohol outlets in the area.

Residents are also concerned about increased traffic, parking issues, and potential disturbances that may affect the quality of life in this community.

We support appropriate and responsible business development. If any license is to be approved, it should be limited to beer and wine only, with strict conditions.
