Hello Parkdale tenants and community members,
We hope you are enjoying the summer heat wave and managing to stay cool!
Are you concerned about the record number of condo developments with no affordable housing coming to Parkdale? Us too!
Please join us this Thursday night as we continue to organize against KingSett and many of the other for-profit developments coming to Parkdale. There will be food :)
A quick re-cap on the King & Cowan condo development:
- City Council voted to refuse the application proposed forward by KingSett Capital.
- KingSett Capital has chosen to appeal this decision provincially at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) with no changes to their proposal which includes zero commitment to affordable housing.
What’s next?
At Parkdale Housing Justice Network, our members are continuing to discuss how we can build awareness about this development and proceed with intervening as a third-party status at the OLT. We will be discussing our options further and exploring organizing tactics where we need your help! We are in support of equitable development and we will continue to raise our voice against corporate developers who are not acting in the best interest of our community concerns.
Please come out Thursday night where we will discuss the next steps in our organizing efforts!
