Hello Parkdale tenants and community members,
We hope you are navigating the recent power outages as best as possible, particularly for residents in South Parkdale. We are excited to invite you tomorrow evening to join Parkdale Housing Justice Network's (PHJN) organizing meeting as we continue to mobilize against the KingSett Capital development at King and Cowan Avenue.
RSVP here to confirm your attendance at our PHJN organizing meeting at 6 pm! (details below)
A quick re-cap on the luxury condo development application status:
- City Council voted to refuse the application proposed forward by KingSett Capital.
- KingSett Capital has chosen to appeal this decision provincially at the Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) with no changes to their proposal which includes zero commitment to affordable housing.
What’s next?
At Parkdale Housing Justice Network, our members are continuing to discuss how we can build awareness about this development and proceed with intervening as a third-party status at the OLT. We will be discussing our options further and exploring organizing tactics where we need your help! We are in support of equitable development and we will continue to raise our voice against corporate developers who are not acting in the best interest of our community concerns.
Please come out tomorrow night where we will discuss the next steps in our organizing efforts!

Actions you can take:
- There are two resources that would be great reference points to learn more about housing justice and community benefits :
a. Parkdale Community Benefits Framework (2018) and
b. Parkdale Community Planning Study (2024) (particularly the ‘housing justice’ theme). - Join the mailing list for Parkdale People’s Economy for monthly Parkdale community updates.
- Continue to share the KingSett petition with neighbours and inform them about the latest update. Bring them to our PHJN organizing meeting!
- Connect with us to discuss organizing ideas – we are currently looking for legal and planning experts who can advise our organizing group.
We look forward to keeping you updated!
In Solidarity,
Parkdale Housing Justice Network (PHJN)
