Hello Petition Supporters,

My name is Alexandra, and I'm on the Civic Engagement team at Change.org. Our team works to connect petition starters and supporters with the public officials who have the power to act on the issues you care about. 

I spoke with the office of Councilmember Lavonya Goodwin (District 2) regarding this petition. They shared that the most effective way for residents to raise issues with the Omaha City Council is to attend a council meeting and speak during the public comment period.

The office noted that councilmembers are notified when petitions are circulating, but whether a member engages on a specific issue often depends on whether constituents bring it forward at a public meeting.

They took my contact information and said they would share it internally in case Councilmember Goodwin chooses to comment directly online.
