The Issue

Pokémon GO players around the world are disappointed with the announcement of the upcoming May 9th Community Day featuring Lechonk. While every Pokémon has its place, Community Days have traditionally highlighted rare, fan-favorite, or competitively relevant Pokémon that bring excitement and value to the player experience.

Lechonk does not meet those expectations for many players.

Community Days are limited, highly anticipated events. They are opportunities for players to:

Hunt meaningful shinies
Obtain powerful or meta-relevant evolutions
Engage with content that feels rewarding and worth their time
Choosing a common, low-impact Pokémon like Lechonk has led to widespread frustration within the community. Many players feel this decision does not reflect player interest or feedback.

We respectfully ask the developers at Scopely to reconsider this Community Day selection and prioritize Pokémon that:

Have competitive or gameplay relevance
Are widely requested by the community
Bring excitement and value to dedicated players
Pokémon GO thrives because of its passionate player base. Listening to that community is key to maintaining long-term engagement and trust.

We urge the team to make Community Days something players can look forward to again.
