The Dachshund breed is unfortunately being ruined, due to bully breeders getting their hands on them.  We are now seeing dilutes popping up everywhere.  For anyone who doesn't know, Dilute colours such as Isabella and Blue suffer a skin condition called Colour Dilution Alopecia.  This causes fur to fall out and the dog to go bald.  They are also prone to allergies and skin cancer.  Sadly, alot of the public are unaware of these issues and see a pretty coloured puppy and buy it.  The Kennel Club who make out they advocate health as a main priority are allowing dilutes to be KC Registered.  The Dachshund Breed Council are also to blame, as they are the ones who tell the Kennel Club what to register.  This needs to stop and people need to be made aware of the health implications.  There are also other colours such as pink now being bred into the breed and also hairless dachshunds.  This is very sad for our breed and needs to stop!  This will not stop them being bred but will cut down alot of the breeders.  They get more money for KC Registered dogs, therefore if they aren't registered they are less popular.  The general public believe that if a dog is KC Registered then it is automatically healthy.  People need to be educated more on this, as anyone can KC Register a litter of pups.
