The issue

The death of my husband Neville (Slim) Mugridge in a horrendous truck fatal accident killing three drivers has left three wives and families grieving.   It happened on 4 April 2024 on the Eyre Highway Yalata and has brought a huge response from all truck drivers all over Australia outlining the dangerous operation of some drivers on the road. A huge number of drivers are considering hanging up there boots wondering who will be next to die.  Inexperienced drivers are causing near misses and fatal accidents far too often.  What we would like to see it all truck drivers take the necessary timeframe from car licence to the following:

·         Held a car licence off “P” plates for 12 months.

·         LR Light Rigid for one year

·         MR Medium Rigid must have held a class “C” for at least 1 year

·         HR Heavy Rigid must have held a class “C” for at least 2 years or class LR or MR for at least 1 year

·         HC Heavy Combination must have held a class MR or HR at least 1 year

·         MC Multi Combination Must have held a class HR or HC for at least 1 year

This will ensure that overseas drivers can no longer enter Australia and obtain heavy vehicle licences without following the above guidelines making the roads safer for all travelling up and down the highways.
