Thank you to everyone who showed up to speak and attend the Okeechobee Board of County Commissioners meeting this morning. It was a full house!

What stood out most was how strong and unified this community was; everyone was measured, informed, and on message. That’s what gives us real power and credibility. I am incredibly proud of our town.

But this is just the beginning.

We need to keep the pressure on our elected officials, at both the county and state level, to ensure they protect our community from corporate exploitation and make decisions that truly reflect the will of the people.

There’s also encouraging news: this issue is gaining serious media attention. I was interviewed by WBPF News, and the segment will air tonight at 6:00 PM. Be sure to tune in. TCPalm is also working on an investigative deep dive that will be published soon.

This is no longer a quiet local issue; this is becoming a headline story.

And we’re making real progress. The petition is quickly nearing 2,000 signatures.
