The Issue

My kids ride their bike and meet up with friends at the community park in Saratoga Springs. I feel secure letting them enjoy the freedom of our peaceful neighborhood. However, the proposed expansion of the road Inverness poses a significant threat to this peace and safety. This expansion would create a heavily trafficked thoroughfare right on the doorstep of our community, past our cherished parks, and through our well-loved trails.

The increase in traffic could make our neighborhood unsafe for children who play outside, ride their bikes, and walk to the park to meet friends. The community spaces that currently serve as safe destinations for families could be overwhelmed by the noise and danger of the increased activity.

Besides safety, the road construction also threatens the environmental and aesthetic value of our trails and green spaces. Saratoga Springs is valued for its natural landscapes, and urban expansion should not come at their expense.

Traffic statistics and environmental assessments should be seriously considered before any development shortcuts the community's needs and safety. According to a study by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, pedestrian injury risks increase exponentially with higher traffic flow. Urban planning experts advocate for responsible development that considers communities' physical and social environments.

We urge local authorities and urban planners to reconsider this plan in favor of alternative routes or designs that preserve community safety and environmental integrity. The future of Saratoga Springs hinges on thoughtful decisions today.

Join us in urging the city officials of Eagle Mountain and Saratoga Springs to stop the Inverness Road expansion. Add your name to this petition to stand for the safety and well-being of our neighborhoods and ensure the livability of our community for generations to come.
