Pangolins are the most trafficked mammals in the world, with over a million trafficked in the last decade according to the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN). They play a significant role in our ecosystem by controlling insect populations and enriching the soil with their burrowing activities. Yet, these gentle, nocturnal creatures are being hunted and sold in illegal markets, their scales prized in traditional medicine and their meat considered a delicacy.

These cruel practices are not only robbing these innocent animals of their lives, but they are pushing an entire species to the brink of extinction. It is sad to note that two out of the eight species of pangolins are classified as critically endangered by the IUCN.
