Hi all, This is a reminder that PSEG will be holding its Open House this coming Tuesday from 10am to 8pm. The Open House will be held in the Montauk Playhouse gym - there will be illustrations, presentation materials and technical experts standing-by. The format will be more of a PSEG “show and tell” than an actual meeting.
As a show of unity and opposition to the Flamingo Avenue site, we will be assembling outside the Playhouse between 545 and 600pm. Tom Bogdan and I will be there all day and encourage others to do the same.
For those who support getting this piece of infrastructure to the recycling center, there is only one way to do it - we need to swap for a small piece of county land adjacent to the recycling center. While we have heard nothing but positive support for this idea, the Town has relayed concerns (although we don’t know from whom) about clearing / disturbing an area that is out of sight and next to a 30 acre dump that is already cleared. Are these same people OK with clearing undisturbed land in the middle of town on a hill (Flamingo)?
There has been some talk about using already cleared county land on Navy Rd before the parking lot in Eddie Ecker Park - if we are going to go through the trouble of swapping for county land we should do it in the right place (next to the recycling center). It will take unanimous support from Montauk to give our county government the ammunition they need to get this approved at the State level.
PSEG is eager to move forward with a location whatever it may be, and would prefer to have unanimous support from the community.
Please let your opinion be heard, this is our opportunity to get this to the right place.
I am available at 415-246-5657 (or via email) if anyone has questions.
Thank-you,
Shaun
