As a young driver, being on P plates is more than just a status; it represents a crucial stepping stone towards achieving full driving confidence. Limiting our freedom with additional restrictions means cutting short our opportunity to grow and learn in a real-world context. These new regulations propose stricter limitations and conditions that go beyond ensuring safety, verging instead on unnecessarily punitive measures.

Statistics have shown that imposing overly restrictive laws can have the opposite effect on safety. For instance, in jurisdictions with similar laws, there was no significant reduction in road accidents, but rather an increase in driving-related anxiety among young drivers. This does not solve the problem but could potentially create new ones.
