Stop the Implementation of a 4x4 Flexible Schedule in Our Schools!
The Issue
As a concerned parents of students in the Stamford, CT Public School System, we feel compelled to challenge the proposed change in our school schedule to a 4x4 flexible schedule. Our children's education stands to be significantly impacted by this drastic alteration, which overlooks the realities of their developmental needs. Evidence has shown that the 4x4 flexible schedules can prove to be harmful to the learning and retention of information among high school students (Veal and Flinders, 2001). Switching to this type of slate, in reality, doesn’t accommodate the cognitive capabilities of adolescent learners and often leaves them less competitive in an ever-demanding world.
With this petition, we call upon all parents, educators, and stakeholders to come together and voice our collective concerns. This is not about resisting change; it's about engaging in changes that positively impact our children and our future. Please sign this petition to prevent the adoption of the 4x4 flexible schedule in our schools. Let's protect the quality of our kids' education.
