STOP THE IMPENDING BAN ON THE SALE OF PET VACCINATIONS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.

STOP THE IMPENDING BAN ON THE SALE OF PET VACCINATIONS TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC.
The Issue
The understanding of the notice RE: SALE OF DOG AND CAT VACCINES to the public will be curtailed. Effectively this will means ordinary people will not be allowed to buy vaccines to serve their community - helping them to get affordable pet health care.
> WHO WILL BE AF FECTED?
Vaccinations are the most important preventative measures that dog owners can take to ensure good health for his dog(s). Vaccination help protect your dog from viral and bacterial diseases, Without proper and affordable vaccinations, a dog will be left unprotected. So then vaccinating a dog is the best and least costly of preventing diseases and ensuring your dog stays in good health. By ensuring you dog is vaccinated a dog owner can prevent costly treatments for serious illnesses that a non-vaccinated dog can pick up. With the un-employment being as rife as it is, many dog owners will not be in a position to take care of their dog's heath welfare. Worse still pensioners getting just over a mere R2 000, will have to budget a big slice of that earnings towards more expensive dog health care.
> WHAT WILL IT MEANS IF THINGS STAY THE SAME OR CHANGE:
Because of the affordability aspect down owners will find it hard to have their dogs vaccinated. This will result in outbreak of the highly contagious PARVO virus that causes acute gastrointestinal illness in puppies. This seasonal illness will cause many dogs to die and because of it's contagious nature. will spread throughout the area - like it did last year 2023 in the Reiger Park / Delmore area. Another factor to be taken in consideration is that livelihoods will be lost of employees that are working in the supply chain of these medicines Changing this notice will otherwise encourage job security for these employees. It will also be saving the lives of many dogs whose owners can afford vaccination at a cheaper rate then at the vets.
> WHY IS NOW THE TIME TO CHANGE
A thorough thought through process needs address this notice before it is implemented so that all factors can be taken into consideration.
➤ IMPORTANCE OF IMMEDIATE ACTION
Immediate action will save the lives of many dogs as well as ensuring livelihoods. Maybe before this route, we can train ordinary people in the tasks of vet nurses or vet assistants, They can then contribute in communities like i.e: Reiger Park / Delmore by providing vaccinations that people can afford.
By signing this petition, you support the following:
> Most people are either of a low income group and/or are not employed- which effectively means they cannot afford exorbitant vet fees to vaccinate their dog.
> Secondly in South Africa we are currently battling with job creation, but in this case we will take peoples livelihood away - lot's of people working in the vets supply shops will lose their jobs. Did we even considered the effect of these employees and their families?
> Also the very same thing that all of us are encouraging l.e: GOOD DOG HEALTH CARE - will be negatively affected. What will happen when there is an outbreak or epidemic in our poor communities? Will the SPCA, local vets or the department then come in late to offer their services free of charge.
> There is a few gentlemen in different areas that are self- taught and they are helping communities by providing affordable dog health care. These are real animal lovers and they use their passion (GIFT FROM GOD) to help our people. They do not do this to profit, but they charge our people only to cover costs. i.e: transport and recoverable costs for these vaccinations.
> Many people live on farms far from vets and it is not cost effective to drive that far or have vets come out for injections
Please sign this petition now! Let's save our beloved animals!
Your Sincerely
