Stop the Hazardous Data Center in St. Charles — Protect Our Water, Health, and Community

Stop the Hazardous Data Center in St. Charles — Protect Our Water, Health, and Community
The Issue
We, the undersigned residents and allies of St. Charles, Missouri, fully oppose the construction of the proposed Project Cumulus data center near Elm Point Road and Highway 370 — and demand that our elected officials reject the development in its entirety.
This project threatens to permanently damage our community for the benefit of a corporation. We say: no approvals, no permits, no backroom deals.
Why we oppose this project — completely:
The site lies within a protected wellhead zone, endangering the city’s drinking water supply with proposed storage of over 1 million gallons of diesel fuel. The development spans over 400 acres of land next to residential neighborhoods, replacing green space and flood-absorbent soil with concrete and industrial infrastructure. It brings 24/7 generator noise, toxic emissions, light pollution, and traffic congestion.
The developers have refused to disclose several important details of the plan and are avoiding accountability and public transparency.
This is not about technology, it’s about misplaced industrial development in the heart of a residential, family-centered community. There is no acceptable version of this project. No mitigation. No compromise.
We call on the St. Charles City Council to:
Permanently reject all permits and zoning approvals related to this project.
Preserve the land for future use that aligns with public health, safety, and residential values.
Enact stricter protections to prevent future high-risk industrial development in residential areas and water protection zones.
Our water, our safety, our homes, and our way of life are not for sale.
Sign this petition to say NO to Project Cumulus — and YES to protecting St. Charles from corporate exploitation.
