Hi everyone! I realize it has been a bit since I last updated, but rest assured - I am still working behind the scenes. As happens with most major projects, the momentum has slowed down as we are waiting for feedback, information, and responses to inquiries, but there has been some movement that I wanted to share.
First, we recently had the Iditarod in Nome. Musher Bridgett Watkins carried Curtis' ashes on her journey from Anchorage to Nome to honor his memory. You can read the Alaska State Troopers Facebook post about it here. The post is public, so I am not sure if you'll need to sign into Facebook or not to read it.
I also contacted Senator Murkowski's and Senator Sullivan's offices regarding the Muskoxen concerns. Despite the incessant blizzards we've been experiencing, we are quickly approaching summer, where thousands of people will once again be living in fear - too afraid to go outside, too afraid to let their kids outside to play, too afraid to walk down the street, too afraid to subsist, and too afraid to do anything to defend themselves because they don't want to be prosecuted. Senator Sullivan and Murkowski's offices have contacted me, and I am meeting with a representative from Senator Sullivan's office Friday morning to discuss the situation. They acknowledge it is not just a state issue, but a federal one as well. I will report back on how the conversation goes to everyone.
