Bernie Savage, Vice President Further Education, National Union of Students UK
Part of Bernie's response:
Hi Philip,
Soaring cost of living. An education disrupted for years by the pandemic. University life put on hold by strikes, because the Government would rather harm students’ learning than give staff the fair pay and working conditions they deserve.
Right now, students and young people are caught in a perfect storm that’s none of their own making – and the Government is turning its back on them.
It can feel so frustrating to be a young person right now – but there is hope. With a General Election coming up next year, we have the opportunity to demand a fairer, more equal future for all young people - but only if we’re able to vote.
Together we can make politicians listen to our demands – by getting on the electoral register, turning up to polling stations in our masses and voting to put young people’s interests front and centre at the next General Election.
