Stop the Frazier School Board and Superintendent from EVICTING the Community Library
The Issue
On November 17, 2022, the Frazier superintendent stated the Community Library was named as a concern in a district risk assessment. The concern at that time was that people use the library with no school personnel present.....however, library personnel were always present. The Community Library requested to see the report and also submitted a Right To Know request to the school district, but that request was denied with the explanation the report/assessment was confidential.
The district's current concern is the double doors that enter the school hallway from the library space. The doors do not lock from the library side due to fire regulations. A reasonable solution would be an alarm when the doors open or new doors that could be locked but would open automatically when a fire alarm would go off.
The Library's attorney has corresponded with the district's solicitor and made two requests to meet, suggesting a meeting of the school board, the borough council and the library board to reach a solution that would benefit all parties. The school district has stated they have no interest in meeting and instead plan to evict the Community Library as of June 30, 2023.
The Community Library needs the support of the communities we have served for the past 62 years. Please show your support and add your name to this petition.
