We urge international organizations, the United Nations, and human rights defenders to urgently intervene to stop the deportation of an Iranian Christian family who have been living in Turkey since 2014. The father, *A.A.*, was sentenced in absentia by Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Court to 4.5 years in prison for promoting Christianity and persuading Muslims to convert. He, his wife, and two children fled to Turkey and were recognized as refugees by the UNHCR in 2015.

 

Despite valid evidence including:

 

 

- Court ruling from Iran

 

- UNHCR recognition

 

- Baptism certificates and church letters

 

- Brochures of church programs with his photo

 

- Arrest and detention of their daughter from school by Turkish police

 

- A deportation order for the daughter and constant pressure to leave voluntarily

 

 

 

Their case was rejected after an unprofessional and unjust interview. The family now faces imminent deportation back to Iran, where they face imprisonment and possible torture. Both the father and daughter have been detained in camps in Turkey (he for 81 days, she for 78 days).

 

We ask for your help in stopping this deportation and demanding that this family be protected under international refugee laws. They need a safe future—not fear, not prison.
