The Issue

My name is Chef Charles Hermann, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart. After dedicating years of my life developing Aire Restaurant and Catering, at the Taunton Municipal Airport, nestled in the community of East Taunton, I am faced with the threat of closure. This establishment is not just a business to me—it's a labor of love, a hub for aviation enthusiasts, and a community gathering spot.

Aire Restaurant has served countless meals to travelers, pilots, and local residents, becoming a cherished fixture within the Taunton community. This threatened closure is not just an inconvenience; it's a risk to local livelihoods and a loss of a cultural staple.

The decision to close Aire Restaurant and Catering has been sudden and without adequate consultation. Small businesses like mine contribute to the economic fabric of our city, employing local residents and attracting visitors. The Taunton Municipal Airport has long been a key part of our community, and Aire Restaurant plays an integral role in that.

The restaurant's existence is woven into many aspects of the community. Events and gatherings here provide a unique blend of culinary and aeronautical experiences, unlike any other in the region. The potential loss impacts us all—from the employees who rely on us for their income to the patrons who cherish their time spent here.

While I understand that decisions sometimes need to be made for operational reasons, proper discussion and exploration of alternatives are essential. I am willing to cooperate and seek viable solutions that can preserve the restaurant and its legacy at the Taunton Municipal Airport.

Therefore, I appeal to the airport commission authorities and the city of Taunton that to reconsider this decision and engage with us to find a sustainable path forward. Let us work together to explore alternatives such as lease renegotiation or even a community partnership that can secure Aire Restaurant's future.

Please join me in urging the relevant authorities to keep Aire Restaurant and Catering open at the Taunton Municipal Airport. Your signature can make a difference. Help save a part of Taunton's heritage and safeguard the jobs and memories associated with Aire Restaurant. Sign this petition today!
