FIFA is a nonprofit built on the trust of billions of football fans. Now it wants to sell up to 20% of a new commercial entity, “FIFA Forward Enterprise,” in a $20 billion deal with JPMorgan Chase and Thrive Capital, the investment firm founded by Joshua Kushner, brother of Jared Kushner and brother-in-law to President Trump.

This raises a serious conflict of interest. Jared Kushner’s own firm, Affinity Partners, has already raised about $3 billion from Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UAE since he left the White House, including $2 billion from the Saudi PIF, and the Senate Finance Committee formally investigated those arrangements in 2026 over concerns Kushner is profiting from foreign governments while shaping US policy. Now his brother’s fund is positioned to invest billions into FIFA’s commercial rights, while President Trump publicly and repeatedly lobbies FIFA’s leadership to bring the World Cup back to the US in 2038.

This isn’t an isolated red flag. Since the 2015 FIFA Gate scandal, FIFA has been rocked by bribery convictions and disputed World Cup votes for Russia and Qatar. Its rotation policy left Saudi Arabia as the only eligible bidder for 2034 despite serious human rights concerns. And the 2026 World Cup was already the most expensive in history for fans, with average resale prices for the final topping $15,000, while FIFA is projected to earn as much as $13 billion from the tournament. Handing private investors a financial stake in FIFA’s revenue only deepens the incentive to keep squeezing fans harder.

The World Cup belongs to the fans and the game, not to private equity and politically connected investors. Sign to tell FIFA: cancel this deal.
