Hi again,

Thank you to everyone who has signed but we need your continued to support by sharing the link and talking about this issue.

As it stands, Cornwall County Council are determined to fell these three healthy, mature lime trees on Trelawney Road, Falmouth.

We have been questioning them on the process by which they came to this position, the existing decision to fell and are seeking a suspension of the proposed works.

The Council's replies have been lacking in detail with no evidence provided. Road closure signs are up and felling is set to start on or around 17th March 2025.

Our concerns have been vindicated by the withdrawal of support for the scheme by one County Councillor. In his public statement he wrote,

"I have recently been made aware of additional information that means I have changed my position and now do not feel that the action being taken is in proportion to environmental risks identified".

In all Council literature it states that felling is the last resort. So why is this last resort being actioned if, as the Councillor feels, it is not in proportion to any problem? Remember, the Council has cited as it's reason,

"To overcome a future nuisance matter".

What does this even mean?

We are continuing to press the Council hard to justify it's decision but they are currently not shifting their position.

As an indication of their determination to push through their proposals, the felling is set to take place nearly three weeks into their own designated period of bird nesting season being 1st March to the end of September in Cornwall.

We need your continued support as a show of public feeling with regard to the Trelawney trees being so important to the community

Thank you !
