There is a concerted effort by organizations like Canada First and Blueprint for Canada, as well as individuals like David Todor in Waterloo, to remove books from school libraries that they say have explicit sexual content that any student has access to. Oddly enough, all these books are LGBTQI+ focussed. Not one book on their list has heterosexual themes.

This is an obvious anti-trans, anti-LGBTQI+ movement. If they are successful, gains made at improving life for LGBTQI+ students will slide back. We know that feeling represented and accepted by peers and in the literature in school courses leads to better student success.

If we don't act now, they may get their wish and set LGBTQI+ progress back decades. They have started a petition of their own aimed at Minister Lecce. I would like to present this petition to him as well so that he does not base a decision on only one side of the argument.

Please sign this petition and show the far right that we won't stand by while they try to destroy what we have built - a safe space for all students in school, regardless of sexual orientation, gender, religion, ethnicity, etc.
