Petition updateStop the Proposed FAA NextGen Flights Over Culver CityAIRPLANE HIGHWAY PROTEST!
Parents and Residents of Culver City
May 1, 2019

--

The communities of West Adams and Los Angeles, east of Culver City, are organizing a protest THIS Saturday to urge the City of Los Angeles to sue the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).  PLEASE COME TO THE PROTEST if you live anywhere in Los Angeles (or surrounding communities) and are concerned about the increased, lowered flights, airport expansion, climate change, or the air your children breathe.  There is a very limited window of opportunity to sue.

More information about the time and location of the protest can be found below.

Please take this action as if your health, property values, and the future of your city depend on it.

!!!AIRPLANE HIGHWAY PROTEST!!!

Currently the City of Los Angeles is negotiating with the Federal Aviation Administration to raise the altitudes of the NextGen Airplane highway over Los Angeles. The City Attorney now has a window of opportunity to sue the FAA if the FAA does not adhere to previously published altitudes which they have, to date, completely ignored.

It has come to our attention that the city attorney's office may be negotiating for peanuts and settling for solutions that do NOT solve the problems we are currently suffering.

PURPOSE OF PROTEST:

• To let our city officials know that by allowing the airport unfettered and unsustainable airport expansion, they are partly responsible for the misery visited on our homes and that negotiating the NextGen airplane highway to be Up Higher and Out Further all day and night, is the only solution.

• To demand that the current negotiations between the City Attorney and the FAA, the City Attorney argues for altitudes of 10,000 feet or more along the NextGen path over the communities from Santa Monica to downtown Los Angeles and beyond turning to join the incoming flights at altitudes of 10,000 feet. (The only reason the FAA would deny this verifiable and feasible option is because it would cost the airlines in extra fuel and a few more minutes of time. We say the emotional and physical health of our lives are more important than Airline profits.)

• That the City of L.A. does not negotiate anything less than 7,000 ft at the GADDO waypoint which is the lowest altitude our communities can tolerate. Anything less does not solve any of the noise/pollution issues for our homes, schools, lives.

• To demand that contained within any negotiated altitudes with the FAA, is the statement that - exceptions to any negotiated altitudes are the exception not the rule and, that whatever can be considered an exception, must be articulated and defined within the agreement along with clearly defined consequences if violated.

The current increasingly lowered altitudes which now average 3,500 ft over West Adams are an outrageous imposition on the citizens below, who demand to be protected by the Mayor, City Council and City Attorney’s office in an aggressive and sincere effort, with real results, during this window of opportunity.
