Stop the expansion of Wellstar Acworth

The Issue

I am deeply concerned about the recent actions taken by Wellstar Health System in our community. They have chosen to close several hospitals in low-income areas, depriving those communities of essential healthcare services. Now, they are planning to expand their operations here in Acworth, which raises questions and concerns among us. This decision seems to be profit-driven rather than focusing on the health needs of our community.

The expansion of Wellstar Acworth comes at a significant cost to the residents of the tri-county area. Traffic congestion is already a pressing issue, exacerbated by ongoing construction projects. The increased traffic from the expansion will further strain our infrastructure and may well lead to longer commute times and increased pollution. This will negatively impact our quality of life and could contribute to the devaluation of properties in the area.

Moreover, the manner in which these plans have been carried out raises transparency concerns. This process seems to have been conducted in secret, with potential influence over local commissioners, as it was not disclosed to the public with due transparency and community input was not sought. Our elected officials are supposed to represent our interests, not the financial interests of large corporations.

Therefore, I urge you to join me in opposing this expansion. We should demand that our commissioners prioritize accessible healthcare for all communities, especially those who have lost essential services due to the closure of hospitals in their areas. Let's call for a thorough public consultation process, demanding transparency and holding our decision-makers accountable.

Sign this petition to stop the expansion of Wellstar Acworth and ensure our community's needs are put first, not corporate profits. Together, we can make a difference and protect the future of our tri-county area.
