I can't stand idly by while more dogs face the prospect of death due to imprudent judicial decisions.
In India, a directive from the Supreme Court permits the euthanasia of rabid or dangerously aggressive dogs under strict veterinary protocols. Additionally, the court allows the removal of stray dogs from areas with significant foot traffic, despite the Animal Birth Control Rules (2023) being in place. These rules, already a step forward, mandate local authorities to sterilize and vaccinate captured dogs instead of resorting to killing them.
While public safety is undeniably crucial, addressing the concerns over stray dogs can and should be achieved humanely. Euthanizing these animals, especially when solutions such as vaccination exist, is both extreme and unnecessary.
