The Issue

Eros is not just another dog; he is a loving soul filled with warmth and an eagerness to please, despite the challenges life has thrown at him. As a foster dog, Eros has shown love and companionship; yet, due to his leash reactivity towards other dogs, he now faces an unjust fate. According to the shelter he is currently with, (Riverdale Animal Shelter in Brighton, CO), Eros needs to be euthanized this weekend. However, having worked with him, we believe this is not the solution.

The shelter believes Eros to be irredeemable, but we have solid, professional feedback that says otherwise. We've had a trainer assess Eros, and they strongly disagree with the shelter's decision, believing that with the right environment and understanding, Eros can thrive. In fact, we already have two other shelters lined up willing to take him in, and a loving adoptive mother waiting eagerly to welcome him into her life. Sadly, their calls and ours have gone unanswered by the current shelter.

Eros deserves a chance to live and be loved, like all dogs. It is not uncommon for dogs with leash reactivity to improve over time with proper training and care. Eros has shown potential to overcome his challenges with the right guidance and environment. According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA), with positive reinforcement training methods, many dogs can learn to manage their reactivity effectively.

We urge the shelter to reconsider their decision and open their heart to consult with the trainers and evaluate the options available for Eros. His life should not be cut short when there are viable alternatives that promise him a happy, fulfilling life. Please join us in saving Eros from euthanasia; your signature can help sway the decision and open doors for communication and a new beginning for him.

Please sign this petition to save Eros and give him the chance he deserves. Together, we can ensure he finds the loving home waiting for him.
