Stop the Euthanasia of 51 Innocent Dogs in Charlotte

The Issue

Right now in Charlotte, 51 dogs—most of them just puppies—face euthanasia because CMPD Animal Care & Control is out of space. These dogs were rescued from a criminal case and have already survived unimaginable conditions. But unless our city acts fast, they may not survive the week.

CMPD ACC has made it clear: without immediate help from the community or intervention from local leadership, they will be forced to euthanize to make room. This is not just heartbreaking—it’s unacceptable.

We are calling on Charlotte city officials and Mecklenburg County leadership to work urgently with CMPD ACC to stop this crisis. That means immediate emergency resources for temporary kennel space, short-term shelter partnerships, or emergency fostering incentives. The lives of these dogs depend on fast, compassionate action.

We love our pets in Charlotte. Let's show it.

Sign this petition to demand city leaders step in and help save these dogs before it’s too late.
