The Issue

Once it's gone - it's gone.

Please sign our petition to Wealden District Council, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council, and Frant Parish Council.

We’re not against development, but the Esquire Development is not thoughtful or sustainable. It threatens our community’s character, green spaces, and already overstretched infrastructure.

Together, we can demand better planning and protect the future of Tunbridge Wells and Wealden.

Thank you for your support - we really appreciate it!

Dear Wealden District Council, Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Frant Parish Council.

We, the residents of Tunbridge Wells, Wealden, Frant Parish and surrounding areas, strongly oppose the proposed Esquire Development that will pave paradise to put up a parking lot.

This large-scale project threatens to harm our community’s character, increase traffic congestion, overwhelm local infrastructure including water, sewage, schooling, doctors surgeries etc, and irreversibly destroy the natural beauty and green spaces that make our area special.

The Esquire Development poses serious concerns for our community:

Traffic and Safety: Frant Road and its surrounding streets are already heavily congested during peak hours. Adding more housing will lead to gridlock, heightened risks to pedestrians and cyclists, and greater strain on rural roads not designed for high traffic volumes.

Infrastructure Overload: Local schools, GP surgeries, and public services like water, sewage and the electric grid are already stretched to their limits. The development will exacerbate this strain, compromising the quality of life for existing residents without adequate plans for new infrastructure.

Environmental Destruction: Tunbridge Wells and Wealden are known for their green spaces and rich biodiversity. The Esquire Development will destroy habitats, increase pollution, and undermine our ability to tackle climate change locally.

Loss of Character: This project threatens to replace the area’s unique rural charm with overcrowded, poorly integrated housing that does not reflect the needs or values of our community.

We understand the need for housing but insist that it must be done responsibly, sustainably, and with the input of the people who live here.

The for profit at any cost Esquire Development fails to meet these standards.

We call on Tunbridge Wells Borough Council and Wealden District Council to:

  • Halt the approval process for the Esquire Development.
  • Prioritise meaningful consultation with local residents to address our concerns.
  • Explore alternative, sustainable housing solutions that balance community growth with environmental preservation

Our voices matter. Our community deserves better.

Once its gone, its gone.  Let’s stand together to ensure Tunbridge Wells and Wealden remain beautiful, safe, and thriving places to live.  Please sign this petition to protect our area and demand better from our local councils.

Help save our weald!
