Stop the Erection of the 'Cry Baby Cry' Sculpture at Cry Baby Hill

Stop the Erection of the 'Cry Baby Cry' Sculpture at Cry Baby Hill
The Issue
As a deeply concerned resident of Tulsa, OK, USA, I am disheartened by the city's decision to place Ken Kelleher's sculpture, 'Cry Baby Cry,' at Cry Baby Hill without considering the views of local residents. Ken Kelleher, although reputed, is not a local artist, and many of us believe that his proposed art piece doesn't reflect the spirit and culture of our community.
Moreover, the sculpture has been described by many as an atrocity. Public art should enrich our community, not alienate or offend its members. While art is often subjective, the overall sentiment towards this particular project is noticeably negative.
It's important to note that although the City of Tulsa officials did do some community outreach, they did not do nearly enough outreach to seek meaningful feedback from community members before finalizing this decision. As per democratic values, and in the interest of maintaining harmony, city officials should be required to solicit and consider public opinion before making such major decisions.
This situation is disheartening and unacceptable. Let this petition serve as a plea for City of Tulsa officials to reconsider their decision and involve the public in choices that directly affect our community.
We need to let the city know that such acts without community consensus are not appreciated. We demand an open dialogue about 'Cry Baby Cry' and the selection of a local artist whose work reflects, respects, and enhances our community. Stand with me to safeguard our common interest. Please sign this petition.
