We urge you to reconsider the EBR realignment plan for Glen Oaks Park Elementary. The proposed changes would not benefit the children, who would be relocated from a well-established, safe, and academically excellent environment to a lower-grade school. Our children have thrived in an environment with dedicated teachers, principals, coaches, and staff who have worked tirelessly to improve academic outcomes year after year. Glen Oaks Park Elementary boasts a strong community among staff, children, and parents, with a high percentage of motivated and involved parents and educators who are deeply invested in the school. The school fosters a positive learning environment, promoting healthy habits, social and academic development, and providing opportunities for students to excel. The realignment plan would have a detrimental impact on the educational levels of high-performing students, who would be relocated to lower-performing schools. Transferring our children and exceptional educators to a school ranked as 'D' would not prioritize the needs of the child or promote academic excellence. Glen Oaks Park Elementary is in superior condition, with excellent attendance and enrollment rates. The school has received notable awards, including Principal of the Year and EBR District PE Coach of the Year. Rather than realigning Glen Oaks Park Elementary, we propose that Merrydale Elementary students be transferred to Sharon Hills Elementary, which is within the same district and serves Pre-K-5 grades. We recommend that the successful strategies implemented by Glen Oaks Park Elementary be replicated to enhance academic outcomes at other schools.
