My name is Mia, and I lost my only child, my 14-year-old son, to drowning in Brays Bayou. He loved the water, but the bayou is dangerous and unforgiving. 😔

In an instant, the very thing he loved took him from me. In an instant, my life would change forever! 

No mother should ever have to feel this pain. No family should have to go through what mine has. Yet drownings continue to happen at Brays Bayou, AT ALARMING RATES, and without changes, more lives will be lost.

I am calling on Harris County and the City of Houston to act now: add warning signs, barriers, rescue equipment, and public education. These are simple, lifesaving steps that can protect others and spare more families from heartbreak.
