Stop the Dissolution of the Stamford Hellenic Association and Preserve Greek Culture in CT
The Issue
The Stamford Hellenic Association (SHA) - a cornerstone of our Greek community in Connecticut - is under threat. As someone deeply involved in this community, I know the SHA's valuable role in upholding Greek traditions, preserving our culture, and instilling a sense of belonging and pride in our Greek heritage in Connecticut.
But now, the impending dissolution of the Association and the sale of our clubhouse loom large as a devastating blow to our Greek community. Even more concerning is the input of directors who seem to dismiss the Association's importance and are pushing for its dissolution. They are disregarding not only our heritage but also the potential this association holds in unifying, representing, and perpetuating the Greek presence in Stamford.
Established over fifty years ago, the Stamford Hellenic Association has been serving as a cultural bridge connecting Greek Americans and introducing the broader community to Greek culture, tradition, and values.
The dissolution of the Stamford Hellenic Association would be to dissolve a vital thread of cultural continuity and community connection. We have to stand against it. We call for the cessation of dissolution plans, the halt of the clubhouse sale, and we demand that those directors pushing for dissolution should renounce their positions.
We propose that passionate individuals, willing to invest their time and energy into the Association and the community, be allowed to take up these positions. Let's pass this organization down to the hands that will bolster the Greek culture and presence in Connecticut, not undermine it.
Join us in protecting the Stamford Hellenic Association and preserving an essential part of our community's cultural fabric and sense of identity. Your signature counts. Sign this petition now.
