STOP the dissolution of MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue & Referral Services, Inc.
The Issue
I am starting this petition for Toni Wellington-Geosits and the dedicated team (including foster homes, and volunteers) that worked with her this year because after tediously combing through the records since the inception of MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue & Referral Services, Inc. to today (2000-2019) through their hard work, dedication, and tireless efforts they have made 2019 a record-breaking year!
2019 saw the most number of dogs rescued (70).
2019 saw the most number of dogs adopted into their furever homes (67).
2019 saw the largest number of foster homes available (12) and the largest number of fostered dogs (25).
2019 saw the largest number of partnerships with other Rescue Network Kennels both in-state and out-of-state.
Toni Wellington-Geosits and her dedicated team made 2019 the MOST SUCCESSFUL year in the Rescue's history! They did this while also performing day-to-day care of the residents, day-to-day operations to keep the Rescue's incoming and outgoing flow of rescued and adopted dogs steady, forming new partnerships in the community (i.e., Douglass Township Stray Dog Program), maintaining and upgrading the kennels, and making the property somewhat livable again.
The current "board" of MaPaw Siberian Husky Rescue and Referral Serivces, Inc. has voted to close the rescue, after having rescued and found permanent homes for more dogs in the past year than ever in the history of the rescue. They claim that we're not doing what was initially intended when the rescue started, that we should not be rescuing and placing that many dogs, we should be taking in dogs that are unadoptable only. Current board vote to close the rescue was 4-1. Those 4 who voted to close the rescue were as follows: Cindy Eddy, Karen Resnick Zane, Doug Rhoads (the one who works at Boeing), and Robert Latch. Please, please all my animal friends on here, let's TRULY speak for those who cannot speak for themselves. Answers must be had, and the public has the right to know.
