We, the undersigned, do not support the Nuclear Waste Management Organization's (NWMO's) nine-step selection process for a nuclear waste disposal site, and we strongly oppose having a Deep Geological Repository for high-level nuclear waste in Northwestern Ontario.
Environment North believes high-level nuclear waste should be managed using a "rolling stewardship" concept, rather than burying ALL the high-level waste in one deep geological repository, to the possible detriment of the environment and of future generations. Stewardship of waste closer to the facilities which have created it also mitigates the hazards of transport.
