Thank you for signing the petition to Stop the Development Surrounding the Huron Natural Area in Kitchener. Your support is already making a difference, and there’s another critical way you can help right now.
The City of Kitchener is developing a Stewardship Plan for Huron Natural Area, and they want to hear directly from the community. They've launched a survey to better understand how residents use the area, what features they value most, and what threats they see to the natural environment.

Survey closes August 31, 2025
Your voice in this survey matters, because two key questions directly support our campaign to stop the industrial development threatening the land surrounding the park:
- “Are there any natural features in the park you think should be protected?”
- “What do you think is the biggest threat to the park’s plants and animals?”
Your answers to these questions can influence city priorities and demonstrate widespread community concern about the proposed industrial development at 1700 Strasburg Rd and other surrounding developments - projects that would endanger wildlife, wetlands, and forested areas adjacent to Huron Natural Area.
The more people speak up about the ecological and cultural importance of Huron Natural Area, the harder it becomes for decision-makers to ignore the risks posed by further development.
After completing the survey, please share it with friends, neighbours, and fellow nature-lovers. Direct community feedback could be a turning point in protecting this space for generations to come.
Thank you for your continued advocacy,
The Protect Huron Natural Area Team
