Stop the Development of Tools that Discriminate Against Learning-Disabled Individuals

The Issue

A new type of discrimination and bias is hitting the Dyslexics Community. This is not an isolated incident but a widespread issue that affects countless individuals with learning disabilities and its about to get much worse.

Developers are creating tools that can inadvertently 'out' us in various situations - from job applications to insurance forms, and even public appearances.

These tools can be used by recruiters to discriminate against us during hiring processes, or being consider for a promotion or at work when using AI to manage our disability. They also have the potential to expose a disabled politician or public figure through video/audio mediums.

According to the National Center for Learning Disabilities, one in five individuals in the United States has learning and attention issues such as dyslexia and ADHD (source: NCLD). These people deserve equal opportunities without fear of being outed or discriminated against due to their disability.

We urge developers worldwide not only abstain from building such discriminatory tools but also actively seek ways to ensure their technologies are inclusive and respectful of all users, regardless of their abilities or disabilities. We call on tech companies large and small, from startups to multinational corporations, to commit publicly not just non-discrimination but proactive inclusion.

Tools like Chat GPT could be a huge help four our community, don’t let it turn into a curse!

Let's create a world where technology serves everyone equally. Sign this petition today if you believe in equality for all learning-disabled individuals!
