Stop the Development of the Government Building in Kathleen

The Issue

Save Historic North Kathleen and Protect Our Community

Residents of Kathleen and surrounding areas are coming together to oppose the county’s proposed development along Kathleen Road that threatens the character, safety, and history of our community.

Kathleen is not just a location on a map. It is a historic community built on generations of families, rural character, and a shared sense of pride. The proposed government development in the middle of established residential neighborhoods raises serious concerns, including:

• Loss of historic and rural community character

• Increased traffic and safety risks along Kathleen Road

• Potential flooding and environmental impact in an area already prone to water issues

• Lack of transparency and meaningful community input before the decision was made

• Declining property values and quality of life for surrounding residents

This project does not reflect the needs or wishes of the people who live here.

We are asking county officials to pause this project, engage with the community, and explore alternative locations that do not disrupt a residential area.

Kathleen deserves to be preserved, not pushed aside.

Ways you can help:

Projects often change when:

•  Strong public turnout continues
•. Media coverage starts
•. Flooding/environmental risks are documented
• Commissioners see political risk
• Alternative sites are proposed

Even if land is purchased, the project still needs:

• Site plan approval
• Engineering approvals
• Environmental/stormwater review
• Budget approvals

Each step is a chance to challenge it.
