Stop the development of self storage units in our rural community

The Issue

I am deeply concerned about the proposed development of 522 self storage units at a busy intersection in our rural community. This intersection at Yellow Bluff and Starratt Road is already burdened with significant traffic congestion, lacks the necessary infrastructure to support an additional commercial development of this magnitude. Current road conditions are already inadequate, with urgent need for improvements such as turn lanes and better drainage systems.

The introduction of such a large-scale self storage facility will only fuel existing problems, increase traffic, and strain our limited infrastructure resources. Our rural community prides itself on maintaining its scenic beauty and tranquil environment, qualities that would be severely compromised by the construction of 522 self storage units.

Rural areas like ours should be preserved and protected from overdevelopment that benefits outsiders more than the local residents. The construction of these storage units are not compatible with the values and needs of our community. Instead of enhancing our neighborhood, this development threatens to diminish the quality of life for current residents by increasing noise pollution and flooding, while providing little to no benefit to the locals.

I urge the local authorities to reconsider this project and prioritize investments that enhance our community's infrastructure, ensuring sustainable growth that aligns with our rural lifestyle. Let us advocate for forward-thinking solutions that meet our area's actual needs and protect our community's character.

Please sign this petition to stop the development of the self storage units and to support efforts in making necessary infrastructural improvements instead. This petition will be presented at the Planning Dept. Meeting on January 8th, 1pm.
