St. John's Church was torn down several years ago to clear the way for a new facility. Their plan for a 7-storey building was rejected by the community and the property was eventually sold. 

Now, Halifax has rezoned the lot, and some developer is planning to use explosives to blast the lot for a new 7-storey development that was approved without any community consultation. 

This is unacceptable. Our community matters to us, our neighbourhood matters to us, and we should have a say!

This new development will completely transform the neighbourhood for the worse. Where medium-density housing could have allowed families to live and grow, instead we'll get AirBnBs and over-priced condos that do nothing to alleviate the housing crisis, all while increasing traffic, blocking out the light, and destroying the character of a neighbourhood of century homes. This isn't about NIMBYism, there is a clear need for housing and development in HRM, but it's only fair that we have an opportunity to share our opinions when it comes to shaping our community.
