Beginning in 2013 the Northampton County Board of Supervisors has been attempting to completely rewrite our current protective zoning ordinance in an effort to reshape this pristine rural county into an Ocean City or Virginia Beach look alike. They propose to: 1) increase density by 4,000%, especially along waterfronts; 2) eliminate affordable housing options; 3) rezone ag land into residential, especially in the black communities; 4) pave the Route 13 corridor..our only recharge area for our aquifer: 5) allow invasive uses on ag, hamlet, and ag lands; and many other changes.   They are poised to pass this zoning just days before new Supervisors (who support more public involvement) take office.  TELL THEM TO STOP THIS REZONING PLAN UNTIL THE CITIZENS ARE FULLY INVOLVED IN DECISIONS THAT WILL AFFECT THE FUTURE OF THE LOWER SHORE!!
