I have 45 years experience of Fishing the BC coast and certainly shared with the Whales during these times. No issues sharing hunting grounds in the North as we see their numbers have grown.
The rationale of leaving the Fraser area open and or closed is well documented. I refer you to Owen Bird and or Martin Paish with SFI.

The petition was randomly created by myself in creating awareness of ONE of the issues with the Recreational Fishery. Particularly in the Vancouver area. There are also issues with a Howe Sound fishery.
I will let the petition speak for itself. We are now approaching 1000 signatures on a primarily Vancouver audience.
The success of the petition would have DFO leave the status quo in the Fraser area with no boundary changes.
The petition will remain open with updates as long as a decision is pending. I will use it to update the petitioners during this course. Please keep me informed.

The Minister of Fisheries and Oceans, Joyce Murray was delivered the petition this week. So far,there is only an acknowledgement of receipt. I plan on visiting her office in a day or two. You can also send the Minister a short email at min@dfo-mpo.gc.ca. or call 613-992-2430.

We are in a fight with ENGOs science, which are well funded, vs volunteers on the Recreational side of issues. For instance, the overpopulation of Pinnipeds sitting on choke points across this province. Not a peep. First Nations fishing directly on Endangered Fraser stocks with Drift nets. It is their right to do so according to the courts. Environmentalists still need to report on that damage. Instead get free parking on ceded land.
