The Issue

Imagine a bulldozer coming to your home and destroying everything you know, leaving you with nowhere to go. That is what the animals living in the forest behind 88 Caesar Boulevard will face if the proposed 58-lot residential development moves forward.

We are asking the Amherst community to stand with us in protecting this forest, which is much more than undeveloped land. It is home to foxes, deer, rabbits, birds, and many stray and community cats who rely on it for shelter, food, and safety. It is also a natural space that neighbors have enjoyed for years.

Our family knows firsthand how meaningful this forest is. We adopted one of the stray cats living there, and he has become a beloved part of our family. Other cats and wildlife still depend on this land, and they cannot speak for themselves or find a new home.

Clearing the forest for 58 residential lots will permanently destroy this habitat. We urge the Amherst community to stand with us in protecting these animals, their home, and this natural space.

Protect Our Forest and the Wildlife That Calls It Home
Clearing a forest for construction does more than remove trees, it destroys an entire ecosystem. It takes away the food, shelter, and natural pathways that animals depend on and will permanently change the environment that supports them.

The birds that nest there, rabbits that live among the vegetation, foxes that hunt, deer that move through the woods, and cats that rely on the forest for safety are all part of the ecosystem that exists today. When their habitat is cleared, they cannot simply find another home. Once this forest is cleared, the habitat it provides cannot simply be replaced.

Their home deserves to be protected.

Increased Traffic and Safety Concerns
A 58-lot development would introduce substantially more homes and vehicles into the area. We are concerned about increased traffic, congestion, road safety, and the impact on residents who currently use the area for walking and recreation.

We believe the potential effects on surrounding roads and the existing neighborhood should be carefully evaluated before this project moves forward.

Water, Drainage, and Environmental Concerns
We are also concerned about how clearing forest and replacing natural land with homes, roads, driveways, and other developed surfaces could change how water moves through the area.

Potential impacts on stormwater runoff, drainage, surrounding properties, and local waterways deserve thorough evaluation before construction begins.

This Is Private Residential Development, Not an Affordable-Housing Project
Is 58 new homes worth destroying 1 home for countless animals and vegetation?

We understand that housing and responsible community growth are important. However, this is a private residential development, and Natale Builders specializes in luxury and custom housing.

We believe the community should carefully consider whether permanently changing this forest and introducing 58 new residential lots into this location is worth the potential environmental, traffic, infrastructure, and quality-of-life impacts.

We are not against responsible development. We are asking for development that takes existing residents, wildlife, natural areas, and local infrastructure into account.

We Are Asking Amherst to Listen to Its Residents
The proposed 88 Caesar Boulevard project is a 58-lot subdivision currently under review by the Town of Amherst. We are asking the Town of Amherst, its Planning Board, and other decision makers to listen to the residents who will be directly affected by this project.

Before allowing this forest to be cleared, we believe the Town should thoroughly evaluate:

-The impact on wildlife living in the area
-The loss of existing forest and natural habitat
-Increased traffic and neighborhood safety
-Stormwater runoff and drainage
-Potential impacts on surrounding properties and waterways
-The overall effect of a 58-lot development on the existing neighborhood

Once this forest is cleared, the changes cannot simply be undone.

We are asking decision makers to carefully reconsider this proposal and ensure that the concerns of the people and animals who already call this area home are not overlooked.

Please sign this petition if you believe our forest, wildlife, community cats, neighborhood, and natural environment deserve to be protected.

Our community deserves to have a voice in what happens to this land.
