To date, the Town of Collingwood has not required a new Environment Impact Study (EIS) for the project. But they have accepted a cursory developer funded "update" to an EIS done 11 years ago for a completely different phase of the development when the adjacent wetlands were vastly different ecologically. Based on only one visit to the site the "update" authors concluded that habitat for Snapping Turtles (a protected species) did not exist in the area. This photo of a large snapping turtle was taken near the adjacent wetlands only 8 days after the update authors did their single site visit and said snapping turtle habitat did not exist!! Ask yourselves -- what else did they miss? Time for a full EIS!"
