I Thought They Were Protected!

Ancient Joshua Trees are going extinct, and we must save them. The Aratina Solar Project in Boron, California, is approved to destroy nearly 4000 ancient Joshua Trees in this forest (Each Blue Dot on the map represents an old growth Joshua Tree). These iconic trees have stood for centuries, providing habitat for numerous species and contributing to the unique biodiversity of our region.

Who Approved the Aratina Solar Project? [Watch the Video]

The Aratina Solar Project is one of the 15 projects who got a free pass during the 2020 California Endangered Species Act (CESA) negotiations because they claimed they were "Shovel Ready". This was done in some back-room deal. Now, four years later, they have still not broken ground - so why were they included in the 15 projects that got a free pass?

Why did ANY Solar Project get a free-pass to destroy Joshua Trees?

These are Excellent Questions!  We want to know as well! Send an EMAIL to ask the people who made this decision!

Joshua trees are already under threat from climate change and human activities. According to the California Department of Fish and Wildlife, these trees could lose 90% of their habitat by the end of this century if current trends continue. Allowing this project to proceed would accelerate their decline.

We need sustainable energy solutions that do not come at the cost of irreplaceable natural treasures. Please join me in urging local authorities and project developers to find an alternative location that does not jeopardize our ancient Joshua tree forests. Sign this petition to protect our environment for future generations!

Valley Fever!

Large solar projects disrupt soil causing dust, which has shown to cause Valley Fever in people working and living nearby these projects.

The placement of the Aratina solar farm (south of the city of Boron) assures that the dust will blow onto the town and High School. This is clearly a threat to the health of the residents - both young and old!

Joshua TreePetition StarterJoshua Trees need to be protected, but apparently, some people see them as weeds. Even though there are protections in place, large scale development always seems to get a pass to clear cut the trees. This has to stop.
