Stop the deportation of Naomika Nair
The Issue
Naomika Nair, a dear friend and a hardworking student at the University of Colorado Boulder, has found herself in an incredibly unjust situation. Naomika has been a part of my life for five years, during which she has not only been an exemplary student but also contributed positively to her community through her work for the university. She arrived in the United States at the tender age of twelve and has made this country her home, adapting to its culture, forming meaningful relationships, and envisioning her future here.
Recently, however, Naomika was met with a shocking decision. Upon disembarking from a cruise, immigration authorities decided to deport her to India, a country she is not familiar with, simply because of a misunderstood visa complication. This action threatens to uproot the life she has diligently built here, separating her from her boyfriend, who is a dedicated firefighter serving the community. Naomika's deportation is not only unfair but a grave mistake that negatively impacts her education, her career, and her social ties that she’s nurtured over the years.
Naomika is here legally. She possesses a student visa and has adhered to all legal requirements. Her roots in the United States are deep and meaningful, and she deserves the opportunity to complete her education at the University of Colorado Boulder. She is not only a student, but an active lead in her job at CU. Her journey is a perfect example of a successful immigrant who is contributing to the academic and cultural richness of the nation.
This is not just about Naomika; it is about preserving the integrity of a system that should support and retain promising students, not displace them with bureaucratic errors. By raising awareness about her case, we aim to pressurize the authorities to reconsider their decision and allow her to continue her studies in peace.
Join us in urging the administration to reverse this decision and let Naomika Nair stay. We must stand together to provide her, and countless others in similar situations, the assurance that they are wanted and valued in the United States. Naomika's dreams should not be dashed by an unjust deportation. Sign this petition to make a difference and help Naomika remain where she rightfully belongs.
