The situation in Afghanistan is increasingly dire. Particularly for women. The United Nation's report on the treatment of women in Afghanistan revealed that the rights and safety of these women are constantly threatened. Afghan women are forced to submit to numerous oppressive limitations, depriving them of the basic human rights we often take for granted.

Our beloved city of Hillsboro has been a sanctuary to many of these women, offering them hope for a brighter future. Unfortunately, the deportation of these women back to a country marked with strife is imminent.

In the face of these dark realities, we must be the beacon of light for these vulnerable individuals. We must voice our opposition against the deportation of Afghan women from Hillsboro. We ask our city officials and representatives to reconsider, to manifest the values of compassion and justice our city stands for. By stopping their deportation, we are offering them another chance at life – one they truly deserve.
