Update: Your Voice Matters - Protecting the Gosford Library Building!

Dear Petition Signatories,
Thank you! I'm so grateful that you've signed my petition. Your signature has joined a powerful movement of over 3,500 individuals dedicated to the adaptive reuse of the Gosford Library building. We're building a strong community voice, both online and through paper petitions, to protect this valuable asset.
I'm pleased to share that your collective voice has been heard! Prior to the recent Central Coast Council Review Committee meeting, I officially submitted your petition to Chair Councillor Trent McWaide and Deputy Chair Councillor Margot Castles. I requested that the petition be shared with all committee members and included in the meeting minutes. While the official minutes are pending, I'm confident that your signatures will be included in the Review Committee's report to the wider council. This ensures your support is officially documented and significantly strengthens our case for preserving the building.
Here's an important update: While the council resolution initially called for three Review Committee meetings before March (which have taken place), the process is ongoing. At the Review Panel meeting on the 27th February it was noted the Australian Institute of Architects could still present to the committee, meaning further discussions are expected.
I want to address concerns claimed by the council concerning ongoing maintenance costs. Publicly available reports commissioned by the Central Coast Council indicate the building is in fair to good condition and do not support claims of previous claims of excessive maintenance expenses.
Looking ahead, it is expected the council plans to conduct community consultations through random surveys, surveys in tourist and library locations, and direct engagement. Your feedback during these consultations will be crucial in demonstrating the strong community desire to save the building. I will inform you when these consultation periods begin to ensure you can participate.
Your support is making a real difference. As the creator of this petition, I sincerely thank each and every one of you for taking the time to sign, share, and promote this vital cause.
Please continue to share the petition with your friends and family. Together, we can ensure the Gosford Library building remains a cherished community asset.
Thank you for being a part of this important movement!
Sincerely,
Joy Cooper
